PIF Management – Individual Training Permit

We help you apply for and process your Individual Training Plan (PIF) so you can pursue official training during working hours and with a salary. Gain annual leave hours, officially recognized training, and comprehensive management with your company and FUNDAE (State Foundation for Training in Employment).

How can your company recover costs while your employees are studying?

This leave allows an employee to pursue official studies - such as a master's degree, a vocational training course, an official language school, or a professional certificate - while the company recovers that time through social security bonuses.

What type of training allows you to process a PIF?

The PIF is intended for official and accredited training programs, such as:

  • Degrees, master's degrees, vocational training cycles, high school diploma or vocational training.

  • Professional certificates.

  • University-issued degrees recognized by the university.

  • Professional skills accreditation processes.

  • Training required for the practice of regulated professions.


The training must have a face-to-face component, even if it is semi-face-to-face or online, and it is possible to also include travel time, self-study or rest time (in cases of night shifts).

How much can the company recover?

The company recovers the salary costs for the hours the employee is absent for training. This includes base salary, prorated bonuses, and social security contributions.

This is an additional bonus to the usual training credit, with a limit of 200 hours per permit and academic (or calendar) year.

The additional credit available varies depending on the size of the company, for example:

Who can apply?

Any employee can request a Individualized Care Plan (IPP) from their company, and the company cannot refuse it except for justified production or organizational reasons. The company also has the obligation to inform the workers' legal representatives (if any).

Working for someone else

Pay social security contributions for vocational training. Not applicable to the self-employed.

 

In-person and/or live online

Take any type of Official Training (Master, Degree, Language School,...) in face-to-face and/or live online mode (virtual classroom).

Working Hours

The training schedule must coincide fully or partially with the working schedule.

 

PIF application and authorization

The PIF must be requested in writing from the company and the company must give its express authorization beforehand.
